BREAKING: Magic Johnson Acquires Kawhi Leonard From Spurs In Effort To Improve Dodgers’ Bullpen
July 2nd - Reports indicate that Magic Johnson has managed to acquire NBA superstar Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs in a blockbuster trade that comes less than 24 hours after LeBron James announced that he would be signing a 4-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Johnson, who is the president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Lakers as well as a part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, could hardly contain his excitement as he announced the latest mega-deal in what has been a massive week for Los Angeles sports fans.
“I know the Spurs said they were reluctant to trade a player of Kawhi’s caliber to a rival team within the Western Conference,” said Johnson. “But they didn’t seem to resist as much when I inquired about trading him to the Dodgers. We’ve been looking for ways to improve our bullpen, and I think Kawhi will be a perfect fit. Many people didn’t believe me when I said we were going to bring a trio of superstars to Los Angeles this summer, but just look at us now. We got LeBron. We got Javale McGee. And now we have Kawhi. Buckle up, LA...it’s going to be a fun summer.”
Leonard, a two-time NBA defensive player of the year who has repeatedly expressed a desire to be traded to Los Angeles, says he’s not really sure what just happened.
“I don’t really have much baseball experience,” said the NBA superstar. “But hey, Los Angeles is Los Angeles. The weather is beautiful, the marketing opportunities are endless, and I've heard the fans are usually pretty good about showing up when there’s nothing else going on.”
